This week we celebrate two delicious digestifs that also work wonders for a cocktail. Both share an interesting and surprising ingredient: artichoke! It turns out this thistle covered member of the Aster family of plants has positive benefits for both digestive and liver health. The Greeks and Romans apparently figured this out and would eat them after meals.

Some close relatives of it that we’ve all heard of include Daisies, Marigolds, and Chrysanthemums. Believe it or not, artichokes themselves are actually flowers! So grab a bottle of these bitter digestivos and enjoy a few chilled sips after a meal, or play around with them in cocktails. The Cynar, in particular, works wonders in a Negroni as a replacement for Vermouth.
