A Trail to the Past

Cara Sur, meaning “South Face,” refers to one of the most challenging approaches to Cerro Mercedario, a mountain visible from the vineyards where the grapes for this winery grow. This gives the name a has a double meaning.

First, it highlights the more challenging approach taken by the winemakers of minimal intervention, esoteric varietials, and cultivating super old vines at high altitude. Moreover, it speaks to Nuria Año Gargiulo and Pancho Burgallo’s passion for mountaineering.

Año and Pancho as a couple make up half of the winemaking team at Cara Cur. The other half is Sebastián Zuccardi and Marcela Manini, who bring generations of expertise from the Zuccardi family and unmatched winemaking passion. The results of their endeavor are wonderful, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
