Thanksgiving Wines!
Thanksgiving day means the start of the holiday season, an official reason to be thankful for the bounty of the year, health, family, friends and community. We have wine recommendations to impress, satisfy all palates and more importantly, build new memories with loved ones.
Bubbles
Sparkling wines, like traditional method Cava, Champagne or our favorite Brazilian bubbles are crowd-pleasers that elevate the start of any celebration. Their crisp acidity cleanses the palate and complements appetizers beautifully.
Pro Tip: Look for a dry style (Brut, Brut Nature or Extra Brut) for versatility.
Rosés & Mineral-Driven Whites
Rosés: Light, refreshing, and food-friendly, rosés can seamlessly transition from appetizers to the main course. Dry rosés from the Basque Country or a sparkling rosé can be a hit.
Whites: Options like Albariño, Chenin Blanc, Riesling or Semillon bring minerality and acidity that balance richer dishes like stuffing or creamy sides. Look for these expressions from Uruguay, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
Dry Lambrusco
Often overlooked, dry Lambrusco is lightly sparkling and slightly tannic, pairing wonderfully with savory and salty dishes (think turkey and cranberry sauce).
Reds with Medium Body and Vibrancy
Offbeat Picks:
Pais, Garnacha, Marselan, Mencia, Frappato: These lesser-known varieties add an element of surprise and are great conversation starters. They often showcase bright fruit and earthy undertones. Look for old vine Pais in Chile, silky Garnacha from Sierra de Gredos in Spain, Marselan from Uruguay, Mencia from Bierzo or Ribeira Sacra and Frappato from Sicily.
For Traditionalists:
Pinot Noir: Classic for Thanksgiving—light enough for turkey yet complex enough to impress. Look for coastal climate Chile and Patagonia, Argentina.
Nebbiolo: With its floral aroma and vibrant acidity, it pairs exceptionally well with hearty dishes. Look for Langhe Nebbiolo and Argentine Nebbiolo.
Lighter Tempranillos: Opt for unoaked or minimally oaked versions for a fresher, fruitier profile. Enjoy a Joven or Crianza from La Rioja in Spain.
With this diverse lineup, your gathering will have a wine for every taste and dish! Cheers to making memories over good wine and great food.
