Catadores' Picks for President's Day!

Happy President’s day weekend! To help you celebrate an extra day of fun, we asked some of our Catadores for what they’re loving on our shelves right now. Anna and Lauren from Shaw, and Domingo from our La Cosecha location, made the following amazing choices. Enjoy!

Anna chose the wonderful Rogue Vine Super Itata Riesling. This smooth, ultra-dry, complex riesling wine harmonizes with foods as diverse as spicy Thai food, simple grilled fish with citrus, or a classic German sausage.

Domingo wants you to try both the "Mi Nena" Corinto Velo Flor and the Barda Pinot Noir. The Mi Nena rests under "flor" Jerez-style for a few months. This gives the wines depth, structure and higher minerality. The nose has a medley of nuts, burnt sugar, and tropical and stone fruits while the palate is round with subtle notes of dried papaya finished with a clean, mouth-watering acidity.

Alex Bliss, the newest edition a nuestro equipo, digs the way the cooked plum, cocoa, coffee and earthy notes of the Ricardo Santos Las Madras Vineyard Malbec would pair seared red meat. Steak night!

Lauren’s pick is brand new to shop. She raves about the Constantina Sotelo Viticultura "Rosalia" Albarino from Rias Baixas in northwestern Spain. Here’s her glowing description:

“Golden on the eyes with a light haziness. This wine has aromas of citrus (lemon, kumquat, pomelo), slightly bruised green apple, nectarine skin, sea air, tarragon and flat leaf parsley, as well as white tea.

In the mouth, this wine has medium plus acidity, and you will taste lemonade, grapefruit juice, citrus zest, a bit of smokiness, and green herbs. It has some viscosity, and overall a generously textured palate that suggests it's lees aged. The wine then finishes nice and clean with salty/mineral tones.”

Come say hi and see all the awesome picks that all the Catadores have chosen. Just look for the tags with their faces!
