Hora del Vermouth - Buenos Aires Edition
The vermouth culture has been engraved in Argentine society for over a century when millions of Italians disembarked in the federal capital city of Argentina, the majestic Buenos Aires. For those that have been to “La Ciudad de la Furia” also known as the “Paris” of South America: Buenos Aires is full of art, folklore and culture with world class gastronomy and bars, and of course with historic “fútbol” soccer rivalries.
When you land in Bs As go to the historic neighborhood of San Telmo, have a freshly brewed coffee or mate, while enjoying a facturita and a media luna. Then take a stroll through Recoleta where you will stumble upon many hidden gems: museums, parks, retail boutiques and of course meeting and greeting many personalities along the way. Once the lunch hour arrives, stop by La Mezzeta Pizzeria (some of the best pizza in the city) or Don Julio Restaurant for a traditional asado is always a good choice with plenty of Malbec wash-down the delicious culinary creations.
Then continue your tour of Buenos Aires at Recoleta and have a cocktail at Floreria Atlantico and then go to the trendy-hipster Palermo neighborhood where you will enjoy the long awaited “hora del vermouth”. We highly recommend the following spots:
Floreria Atlantico (Recoleta): Top 50 Bars in the World where you can enjoy the rich diversity of vermouths from Argentina and all over the world. If you love Negroni’s as much as we do, have one with Argentine Gin, Principe de los Apostoles and explore the Negronis del abuelo section.
La Fuerza Bar (Chacarita-Palermo): where you can enjoy a La Fuerza, Torrontes based Vermouth with Soda Water and an Orange wedge and then transition into the La Fuerza, Malbec based Vermouth on the rocks with green olives. If you visit during the hot summer days, enjoy their “Chacarita Spritz” with La Fuerza Rose with pear cider and soda.
Casa Maria Vermuteria (Palermo): Live music venue, vermouth bar and snack game to continue your bar hoping evening.
If you are still hungry from the evening of vermouth, you should have a Choripan from Chori!
